How often can I take traffic school courses?



California Vehicle Code states that you may only attend a traffic school once in an 18 month period.

How do I know that my county or court will accept the traffic school program?

Big Wheels is a California DMV licensed traffic violator school program ( tvs # E0955 ). Our course of study is approved by the DMV and accepted by all counties and courts. It is important to select only DMV approved programs for court related matters.

If I go to traffic school, Do I still get points on my license?

If the court allows you to attend a traffic violator school program and receives your completion of the class (including passing the final test), before the date set by the courts. The points should not show up on your driving record.

Can Big Wheels extend the time allowed to complete the course?

No. You must complete the program by midnight on the court appointed date or obtain an extension thru the courts. We are a private company with no court authority.

I paid the court a "traffic school" fee. Is the court fee the same as the cost for traffic school?

Court fees are separate cost from traffic violator school fees. Although many courts do impose an administrative traffic school fee, traffic schools are privately owned and charge for their service.

How does the DMV and the courts know that I completed your course?

Upon successful completion of our course(including passing the final exam), we electronically notify the DMV. The DMV notifies the courts, that's why it's important to enter court and county information correctly when registering. We only have the info that you provide.

How do I get a completion certificate for my records?

Big Wheels Traffic school officially reports course completions directly to the DMV.But you will receive a "course completion receipt" for your records.Students completing the program may receive an electronic "course completion receipt" via email, or you may order an official DMV certificate during registration.

How quickly can may certificate be processed?

Your certificate will be processed immediately.Upon successful completion of the course.All Traffic Violator Schools must date stamp their course completions, with notifications sent out to the DMV and courts directly thereafter.

Do I have to complete the course in a single session?

No, you may log on and off as many times as you choose until you complete the program. Allowing you to proceed at your own speed.

Can I do this course completely online?



Yes, Big Wheels traffic school offers a program that can be completed entirely online, including the final exam.

How do I pay for the course?



You pay for the course directly on the site. We accept most credit and debit cards.

Can I take the course on my phone?



Yes. You can register and complete the entire course conviently online on any mobile device.

What happen if I don't pass the final exam?

If,on first effort,you don't pass the final exam, you will have the opportunity to retake the course. DMV procedures only allow for a second test with the same traffic school,at no additional charge but must be completed in the allotted court timeline.However, our final exam is open book,so you may look through all materials again to consider the answers.

What is a "Personal Identity Validation Question?"

Personal Identity Validation Questions are used to help fulfill DMV requirement.To ensure that the person completing a traffic violator course is the driver who was issued the citation. During the registration process, you will be asked to answer a set of security questions and periodically as you progress through the course.You will not be allowed to proceed untill you can answer the questions in the same way as you did during registration.

Will my personal information be made available to outside organization?

Your information is kept private.Your trust is our most important resource and the only way to stay in operation.We will not give,sell,trade or lend your personal information except in cases where mandated by the courts or DMV.

Are online driver education courses legal in California?

Yes, licensed driving schools must be approved by the DMV to offer Online Driver Education and issue state completion certificates.

Are all California licensed driving schools certified to offer Online Driver Education?

No,to offer Online Driver Education a driving school must have their own online course approved by the DMV.

Are there Driving Schools that offer Online Driver Education that are not approved by the DMV?

There are licensed driving schools that offer courses not approved by the DMV. They get away with this by calling theirselves a private school. Make sure to choose a course that is DMV approved.

Why would a student choose to take online Driver Education?

Some high schools do not offer Driver Education. Others only offer the classes before or after school. Many students have very busy schedules with school and extra curricular activities.The online course can be taken when the student chooses to do so.

When can I begin the online Driver Education course?

You may begin the online class after you Register, create a Username, and Password.

How old do I need to be to take the online Driver Education class?

Students need to be at least 15 years of age to enroll.

Is there a time limit to complete the online Driver Education class?

The online class must be completed in 6 months from the students registration date. Extensions will be granted for special circumstances.

Do I need to take Behind the Wheel Driver Training?

Yes, if you are under 17 1/2 you must sign up for six hours of behind the wheel instruction.

Mature Driver FAQ

How often can I take a Mature Driver Course?

Mature drivers, 55 or older, who successfully complete an approved Driver Improvement Course can qualify for reduced motor vehicle insurance premiums. Upon completion of the course you will be mailed a Mature Driver Improvement Course Certificate to present to your insurance company.
